Job Overview

Teachers will support BEAM students as they discover new fields of mathematics. Teachers will teach one or two hour-long courses. Teachers can opt to teach courses in Logic Reasoning, Math Fundamentals, Creative Problem Solving, and Applied Math. All courses are pre-packaged that have been prepared for the program. Teachers will also help facilitate Open Math Time (OMT) by supporting students in problem sets that are related or not related to the course, supporting students as they work on the problem of the week of 100 Problem Challenge, posing a challenge problem for students to tackle, and/or supporting students socio-emotionally in making positive choices in a relatively unstructured time. Teachers will continue to mentor students who completed the Summer Discovery program throughout the following school year.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: 

This part-time hourly position reports to the Supervisor of Mathematics in the office of Teaching and Learning.

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This is a part-time, non-benefited, hourly position. No guarantee of minimum hours.

 

Hours: Program hours 8:00 – 3:30, teachers will be scheduled to work based on their 

availability and needs of the program.

 

Dates: Program Staff Development days will be after school in May/June and select time on June 17 & 18

 

June 20– July 19 Summer Math Discovery Program

 

Locations: Academies of Loudoun
