Job Overview

The Career and Technical Education Resource Teacher relies on authentic, rigorous, and student-centered teaching and learning experiences that embed content and competencies in Career and Technical Education. 

The Career and Technical Education   Resource Teacher will work with the Career and Technical Education office to provide content specific expertise, appropriate curriculum, and professional development for teachers as they implement the Career and Technical Education curriculum in their classrooms. The resource teacher will also support Career and Technical Education by providing curricular resources, professional development, and technical support for Career and Technical Education teachers. The resource teacher will work with Department of Teaching and Learning staff, Career and Technical Education staff, and school-based staff to provide support and resources that deepen students’ knowledge and move students towards the LCPS Profile of a Graduate.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The Career and Technical Education Resource Teacher will support Career and Technical Education instruction by:

• Supporting students’ Deeper Learning by creating classroom resources that engage students in authentic, relevant, and inclusive classroom experiences.
• Developing lessons that build student capacity in Career and Technical Education content and Profile of a Graduate competencies with appropriate, authentic performance tasks and assessments.
• Providing support, technical assistance, professional development in Career and Technical Education for teachers who teach Career and Technical Education course at LCPS schools. 
• Supporting integration of content into the curriculum and across the elementary, middle and high school curriculum.
• Developing teachers’ content and pedagogical knowledge in Career and Technical Education by offering ongoing and sustained professional learning experiences.
• Assisting in the planning and coordination of student experiences Career and Technical Education 
• Work cross departmentally to create student Career and Technical Education experiences that align with LCPS instructional initiatives.

 

Qualfications 

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

 

     Education

• Postgraduate Professional License in Career and Technical Education required; master’s degree in Career and Technical Education preferred

     Experience

• Five years of experience in the Career and Technical Education classroom 

     Licenses and Certifications

• N/A

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
• Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications, excellent human relations skills

Salary Level: Banded Rates: Level 11
