Position Overview
The STEM Camp Director will manage the administrative and instructional needs during the summer camp. They will oversee both the PROPEL and Level Up STEM Camps, ensuring smooth operations across both programs. The director will manage communication with parents and teachers, greet students before camp begins, and ensure that students make it home in the afternoons. Other tasks may include but are not limited to provisioning equipment and materials for each day, managing phone calls/communication with families, organizing required documentation and records, and supporting classes during camp. The director’s workday is extended from the STEM Camp teacher workday, and paid accordingly, in order to manage the administrative duties.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Guide teachers in the implementation of lessons
• Manage camp activities
• Monitor and support the behavior of students throughout camp
• Collaborate with STEM Camp Teachers
• Ensure the safe arrival and dismissal of students throughout camp
• Ensure accuracy of student rosters and attendance
• Communicate with families as needed
• Ensure that materials, supplies, and equipment are available

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
• Holds or is eligible for a Virginia teaching license, with an endorsement in elementary education, or a STEM-related field
• Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
• Demonstrate skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
This part-time hourly position reports to the Propel/STEM Supervisor.

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
This is a part-time, non-benefited, hourly position. No guarantee of minimum hours.

Salary: Band Rates, Band 18  $42.44/hourly
