Position Overview
Provides and is accountable for the planning, instruction, assessment, communication, interpersonal relations, safety, and management of a Dual-Language Immersion classroom.
Roles and Responsibilities

- Plan and implement a Dual Language Immersion instructional program that provides appropriate learning experiences for each student.
- Establish a safe and supportive learning environment that allows each student to demonstrate agency, ownership, and reflection
- Design and implement authentic and engaging learning experiences using the Virginia Standards of Learning and the LCPS curriculum to maximize student achievement using a variety of tools and instructional resources
- Personalize instruction based on the needs of students
- Assess student growth and progress related to educational goals, objectives, and outcomes
- Adhere to the LCPS Grading and Assessment policies and regulations
- Monitor and support student behavior (took out some of this bullet)
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, students, and community members to promote and support student learning
- Direct the work of teaching assistants, student teachers, and volunteers
- Participate in the school’s professional learning community to deepen the understanding of curriculum, content, competencies, assessment, and the developmental needs of students.
Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

Licenses and Certifications
- Must possess or be eligible for a Collegiate Professional, Postgraduate Professional, or Provisional license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Elementary endorsement required; Spanish endorsement is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective written and oral communication in both Spanish and English
- Knowledge of content, curriculum, and pedagogy of elementary-level instruction
- Excellent academic language model in Spanish (Native or Native-like; all applicants will be required to take a language competency exam.)

Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position is based out of Sanders Corner Elementary School and Potowmack Elementary School.

Months/Days/Hours: 10 months, 197 days, 7 hours per day
