Job Overview

The Service Writer provides support to the Service Center regarding customer service, road service requests, and quality assurance.  Performs vehicle scheduling routines and assures integrity of supporting work order and fueling data.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Assists fleet management with design, implementation, and maintenance of a customer service quality assurance program.
  • Represents the Service Center as a customer liaison for support to internal and external customers to provide front line problem resolution.
  • Produces and expedites a vehicle service schedule that meets daily requirements.
  • Maintains data integrity in the Fleet Maintenance computer systems through execution of work order quality assurance process, work order closure, and imaging.
  • Processes and assures integrity of automated fuel transaction data; processes and performs error corrections of fuel transaction information.
  • Issue spare buses and other spare vehicles as needed.
  • Monitors spare bus assignments and status of buses being repaired using provided tools and procedures.
  • Creates work orders using fleet maintenance software and performs related work as required.
  • Follows established procedures; refers items for interpretation to fleet management.

Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

 

     Education
     High School Diploma or GED required 

 

     Experience

     Clerical experience in a municipal fleet maintenance organization

 

     Licenses and Certifications

 

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to use computers and office automation software, e.g. creates and modifies spreadsheets, writes memorandums, and uses a database

Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Months/Days/Hours: 12 months/254 days/8 hours

Salary Level: Scale B/Universal - Non-Exempt Level 6

Salary Scale: https://www.lcps.org/compensation

Salary Range: $23.46 - $30.12
