Job Overview
The Specialist, Title IX Intake is fundamental to ensuring the Office of Title IX remains efficient and able to respond to sensitive and critically important matters. The Specialist will provide administrative and investigative support to the Title IX Coordinator regarding sensitive and complex matters. The Specialist is responsible for administrative, logistical, and technical support for the intake and management of all reports related to sex-based discrimination and sexual harassment; and is responsible for conducting intakes pertaining to Title IX, reviewing grievance procedure options with the involved parties, providing supportive measures to the parties, and working with school administrators to address sex-based discrimination and sexual harassment. The Specialist will also track reports from intake through resolution. The Specialist will work with a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity; and will perform related tasks under Title IX compliance, including record keeping, case coordination, training and outreach to the school community and intake.
Roles and Responsibilities

- Respond to reports of student and staff-related sexual or gender-based harassment by conducting intake interviews with students and staff, providing students with relevant information and resources regarding preventing, reporting, and addressing issues of sexual harassment
- Collaborate and school administrators, and Division partners to assess and implement appropriate supports
- Deal with highly confidential and sensitive information on a daily basis
- Receive reports of sexual misconduct, including sexual and gender-based harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and related retaliation
- Actively foster and maintain a climate that is supportive of students, staff, and administrators
- Prepare and present cases for review
- Implement informal resolutions
- Transition cases appropriate for a formal investigation to an investigator
- Ensure appropriate reporting for Child Abuse and Title IX
- Maintain a database and case resolutions
- Manage and monitor the processing of cases in the office
- Track investigation details in applicable systems
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in sociology, public administration, management or related field
Experience
Two years of experience in program administration or related area

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles and program administration
- Knowledge of Title IX of the Education Amendments of the 1972 Civil Rights Act (Title IX) and related laws and regulations
- Skill in utilizing case management systems, applications and databases
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact
- Ability to navigate difficult situations with compassion and empathy Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Proficiency in the use of personal computer and related hardware and software
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word
