Job Overview
This is work providing instructional assistance to students under the direction of a Summer Math Discovery Program teacher. BEAM Teacher Assistants, serve as mentors to students, run activities and logistics for the program, and provide instructional support in classes. Experienced workers in these positions will engage with students socially and mathematically and have a knowledge of and excitement for mathematics.
Responsibilities
- Implement designated portions of lesson plans
- Engage with students in classroom activities
- Mentor students through the summer program
- Plan and facilitate mathematics and non-mathematics related activities
- Perform related work as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from high school, supplemented by course work in child development or related field, and experience working with children; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
- Ability to work effectively with children; to carry out designated instructional assignments properly; to supervise student behavior and activities; to perform general clerical work
- Good human relations and communication skills

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
This part-time hourly position reports to the Supervisor of Mathematics in the office of Teaching and Learning.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
This is a part-time, non-benefited, hourly position. No guarantee of minimum hours.
Hours: Program hours 8:00 – 3:30, teacher assistants will be scheduled to work based on their
availability and needs of the program.
Dates: Program Staff Development days will be after school in May/June and select time on June 17 & 18
June 20– July 19 Summer Math Discovery Program
- The program will not run July 4-5, 2024
