Job Overview

LCPS BEAM Summer Math Discovery is a program for middle school students run during the summer out of the Academies of Loudoun. This role involves providing instructional support to middle school students under the guidance of an LCPS BEAM teacher.  Teacher Assistants play a key role in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for students. Teacher Assistants are enthusiastic about mathematics and skilled at building positive connections with students. Experienced individuals in this role will actively engage students both socially and mathematically, inspiring a love for learning and discovery.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Assist in running activities and managing logistics to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
  • Provide hands-on support in classes, helping students engage with and understand mathematical concepts.
  • Perform related work as required

 

Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

  • Graduation from high school, supplemented by course work in child development or related field, and experience working with children; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: 
  • Ability to work effectively with children; to carry out designated instructional assignments properly; to supervise student behavior and activities; to perform general clerical work
  • Good human relations and communication skills

 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: Banded Rate, Band 3,  $16.51/hourly

Months/Days/Hours: This is a part-time, non-benefited, hourly position. No guarantee of minimum hours.

Reports To: Supervisor, Math Office
